EN.E.A.P.

The Hellenic Association of Drinks Distributors (ENEAP) represents the largest companies in the sector of alcoholic beverages, which import and distribute 80% of the international brands of premium alcoholic beverages in Greece.

This sector significantly contributes in the Greek economy by participating in the annual taxes (Excise Duty, VAT, income tax), as well as in the labor market by directly or indirectly employing at least 220,000 people in companies engaged in the field of tourism and entertainment.

The primary aim of the Association is sustainable business development, achieved through the seamless import, distribution and promotion of its members’ products.

At the same time, among the immediate priorities set by the Association is to ensure the safe and reasonable consumption of alcohol, in order to minimize potential risks for the consumers and their environment, as well as for vulnerable social groups.

TIPS FOR RESPONSIBLE DRINKING

World Health Organization’s guidelines on “responsible” or low-risk drinking are as follows:

  • Women should not drink more than 2 alcohol units a day
  • Men should not drink more than 3 alcohol units a day
  • No one should exceed 4 alcohol units on any occasion

It should be noted, however, that the levels of tolerance to alcohol, and therefore the consequences to the human body, differ from person to person.

In some cases drinking alcohol should be completely avoided:

  • Young people under 18
  • People that plan to drive
  • Pregnant or nursing women
  • People with health issues or that are taking medications

For this reason, despite these guidelines, what is most important is for each person to know their limits.
