KRUG CLOS DU MESNIL

by KRUG

CHAMPAGNE

The village of Mesnil-sur-Oger is in the heart of the Champagne region known for its superior Chardonnay grapes. Krug House owns a small, walled-in vineyard (clos) in the village of just 1.8 hectares. It is from that protected plot that the Clos du Mesnil is produced, only in exceptional years, making it perhaps the top blanc de blanc champagne on the market.
The year 2006 was particularly hot in the Champagne region, but produced grapes ripened to perfection. The Krug House's Chef de Cave decided that the year would give a particularly generous and expressive Clos due Mesnil, so it was decided to release it. Clos du Mesnil 2006 has aged in the bottle with its yeasts for 12 years. Total production for that year was 14,973 bottles (750 ml) and 800 magnums.
Taste Experience:
Clos du Mesnil 2006 is a very elegant champagne most beautifully paired with high gastronomic creations. It has a particularly delicate aroma with notes of candied fruit and exotic spices on the nose, with a perfectly balanced mouthfeel. Pairs magnificently with subtly flavoured dishes or oily fish concoctions, such as sea bass carpaccio, sautéed scallops or sole meunière.
