Organised worldwide, the BACARDÍ® Legacy Cocktail Competition becomes a hub for some of the finest bartending talent in the world, swarming to rise to the ultimate challenge and create a classic, timeless cocktail.

The three most promising bartenders in Greece came out victorious from this year’s Greek semi-finals, held on Wednesday 20 November at Privilege Athens.

The grand winners were Alexander Steptsenko (Odori Vermuteria Di Atene, Athens), Anastasios Soundias (Mr. Peacock, Chalandri, Athens), and Giorgos Chronis (Spitaki Cocktail Bar, Ioannina).

The event was judged by: My-hoa Nguyen (Trade Ambassador BACARDÍ, Netherlands), Matthew Wakeford (2019 Bacardi Legacy Global Top 3 / Food & Beverage Service Manager at Radisson Blu Hotel, Dubai Waterfront), and Christos Chouseas (Corporate Beverage Consultant at Mitsis Hotels & Beverage Consultant at Belvedere Mykonos), who picked the three semi-finalists after grading all cocktails in categories such as technique, originality, aroma, inventiveness and, of course, taste and finish – in a nutshell, all it takes for a cocktail to become a classic, always according to BACARDÍ®’s principles.

Bacardí Gran Reserva Diez, an aged rum inspired by Don Facundo’s original recipe, is here to offer a unique taste experience. Aged in charred white oak barrels for at least 10 years under the hot sun of the Caribbean – hence its deep golden hue. Its intense but balanced aroma includes hints of vanilla and caramel, while the rich flavour boasts gentle hints of nuts, banana and apricot, counterbalanced with caramelised vanilla and oak. Its exceptionally smooth aftertaste brings out the charred wood and caramel, as a result of the filtering carried out before it is allowed to age. Serve neat or on the rocks.
